Step 1: Get to Know the University of San Francisco

Step 3: Fill Out an Application
Visit the Apply Now page to learn about Online and Common Application options. Please remember to enter a current and permanent mailing address. If your address exceeds the allotted space, abbreviate in a manner that will clearly identify your location.
Recently, students have encountered problems when applying through The Common Application. The University of San Francisco will make every effort to ensure that applicants will be not disadvantaged in the application process due to technical difficulties with the Common Application that are not within the applicant's control. If you experience any problems, browse the Common Application's list of known issues and progress updates, contact the USF counselor who will be reading your application or try the USF Online Application.
Step 4: Submit All Supplemental Documents
If you're planning to submit the Common Application, you can submit an essay on any of the prompts included. If you're submitting the USF application, you'll be asked to answer a prompt regarding the mission of the University of San Francisco and our Jesuit values. Simply submit your essay as part of your application materials with either the Common Application or the USF Application. If you're having difficulty, you can also submit your essay as a Word or PDF document to firstname.lastname@example.org.
One letter of recommendation is required; applicants presently in school should obtain their recommendation from a teacher or counselor. This letter may be sent on a separate sheet of paper attached to the completed recommendation form or may be written directly on the form. The letter can also be sent directly to USF by the recommender. Please make sure your name and date of birth are on the letter.
If you are an Early Action applicant, official high school transcripts should be sent on or before November 15. If you are a Regular Action applicant, submit your transcripts (including your fall semester grades from your senior year) on or before January 15.
Freshman Regular Action applicants may submit fall senior grades before an official transcript is available. You should have your counselor or school registrar complete the mid-year report form and submit it as soon as your fall semester grades are available. Your Regular Action application cannot be evaluated without your fall senior year grades.
All freshman applicants are required to submit official SAT or ACT test results. You must take the SAT or ACT no later than the November test date to meet admission and financial aid deadlines.
If English is not your native language, you are required to submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic).
A non-refundable fee of $55 is required to cover processing of the application. Please do not send cash. Make checks or money orders payable to: University of San Francisco.
