Undergraduate Theology and Religious Studies
Mission of the Department
The Department of Theology and Religious Studies in the post-Vatican II American, Catholic, Jesuit tradition aims to enhance meaningful dialogue between the Gospel, the Church and the present world, exploring with students faith doing justice in local and global contexts.
Further, the Department aims to help each individual explore and articulate critically the unique religious factor within one's own life.
Finally, the Department aims to facilitate understanding and respect for how the world looks to people whose values and sense of the sacred differ from one's own. The Department welcomes religious diversity, both on-campus and in the surrounding community, as a foundation for reflection, dialogue and ethical action.
