Finance Major
Finance is an important field within business administration and management. It focuses on the proper and optimal application of resources such as capital, credit, loans and savings. There have been many advances in modern financial theory and practice that make the field exciting and offer as many challenges as opportunities for the serious student. Furthermore, modern finance often is applied with an international outlook that is especially well analyzed in the McLaren College of Business.
The approach to teaching Finance at the University of San Francisco emphasizes analytical (quantitative and qualitative) proficiency, familiarity with financial analysis software and information processing tools, and the use of "hands-on," applied cases and exercises. It is our intention that our courses enable students to become competent professionals in the field of finance. At the University of San Francisco, the practices of financial management are presented as an honest scientific attempt to increase social wealth by the efficient use of funds. The faculty undertake this endeavor within a deeper, wider, and more sensitive context of what resource administration is about, by understanding its social dimensions and values. This approach, the multidimensional nature of the field of finance and the backgrounds, diversity and quality of our students, makes Finance course offerings inspiring, provocative and stimulating experiences.
