Undergraduate students at the University of San Francisco prepare for personal and professional success by acquiring both the academic and practical skills they will apply to their careers, as well as values and sensitivities necessary to be men and women for others. "Cura Personalis" is a Latin phrase that means, literally, "Care of the Person." It is one of the important tenets of Jesuit education. "Cura Personalis" calls for individual attention to the needs of others, respect for unique circumstances and concerns, and the appreciation of each person's individual gifts and perspectives.

The University of San Francisco rises to meet these ideals through the breadth and quality of scores of academic programs offered in a multicultural learning environment, the emphasis on active learning led by extraordinary faculty, and a university community dedicated to service and advocacy. The courses and programs associated with majors, minors, and combinations of programs reflect the emphasis on educating the whole person, spiritually, intellectually, artistically, socially and physically.

Since 1855, our freshman, transfer and continuing students have found opportunities for research, study, athletics, service and community outreach. Our students reach out into the professional community, and out to the rest of the world through internships and through study and immersion programs abroad. As the first university in San Francisco, a unique cultural center that draws the best in the arts, spirituality, politics, science, business, health and technology, our students discover opportunities unparalleled at any other institution of higher education.
