Phelan Multicultural Community (PMC) is collaboratively sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Residence Life. PMC is a unique living-learning program that provides opportunities for students to spend an intense year together in and out of the classrooom--working primarily to create a multicultural community that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of all its members.

The courses establish the academic foundations for learning basic skills necessary for a multicultural society, including: cross-cultural communications, critical thinking, and examination of societal systems. In addition to the coursework, the community participates in a weekend retreat each semester and attends weekly "Karamu" (community gathering) seminars. Guests from USF and the surrounding community of San Francisco are invited to present, discuss, and share their perspectives with the community. This community is located in Phelan Hall. Participants must have at least sophomore standing.
