2007 Faculty Awards

Each year the University of San Francisco confers three awards to full-time faculty for recognition in three distinct areas:

  • excellence in teaching – the Sarlo Prize;
  • service of others within and outside the USF community in light of the legacy of St. Ignatius - the Ignatian Service Award;
  • commitment to service-learning in the curriculum – the Faculty Service-Learning Award.

This year's awardees are:

Sarlo Prize: PROFESSOR ROBERTA JOHNSON , Department of Politics, College of Arts and Sciences

Ignatian Service Award: PROFESSOR JOAQUIN "JAY" GONAZALEZ, Department of Politics, College of Arts and Sciences

Faculty Service Learning Award: PROFESSOR LINDA WALSH , School of Nursing

The awards were presented at this year’s 31st Annual University Service & Merit Awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 2, 2007.

Ten USF faculty received grants from the Faculty Resource Network for the Summer 2007 workshops. The grants provide faculty an opportunity to explore topics or fields that enhance their academic and scholarly activities including curriculum development.
