Graduate Steps for Admission

  1. Request Information

    First, request information about USF’s Graduate programs for working professionals. You can fill out the “Request Information” form by following the link above or by sending an e-mail to graduate@usfca.edu, or to the regional campus in your area:

  2. Information Meeting

    Next, we invite you to attend an information meeting at one of our five campus locations. For meetings at the San Francisco, Cupertino, San Ramon, North Bay, or Sacramento Campuses, please click on the campus of your choice or call the specific campus.

  3. Advising Appointment

    Call for an advising appointment to discuss your qualifications, financial aid and to review your prospective program.

  4. Supporting Documents
    • Order two official transcripts from the Registrar’s Office of all colleges that you have attended. Have both sets mailed to you. Keep copies sealed in its original envelope (to bring to your advising appointment).
    • Write a three-to-five page statement of purpose discussing your interests and educational and professional goals applicable to the degree; include your professional accomplishments, career plans, and educational needs.
    • Updated Resume
    • Two Letters of Recommendation

  5. Application

    Submit your application after meeting with your advisor. You may send the following items to your advisor or mail all application materials directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions - unless otherwise requested by your advisor.
    • Application form
    • Application fee of $55 (Waived for students who submit $100 space reservation)
    • All official, sealed college transcripts, statement of purpose, updated resume and two letters of recommendations

  6. Financial Aid

    If you plan to apply for financial assistance, call the Financial Aid Office at (415) 422-6303 to get a FAFSA form (“Free Application for Federal Student Aid”) or apply for a federal student loan online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

    Use the following school code for USF 001325.

  7. Space Reservation

    Send a $100 space deposit check to your advisor to reserve a space in the program. This deposit reduces your first tuition payment by $100.

  8. Application Status

    To check on the status of your application call your advisor or check on-line at http://admission.usfca.edu. Upon acceptance you will receive a postcard from the USF Admission Office.

  9. Attend the scheduled registration meeting at your selected regional campus. You will be notified of the date and time.

  10. Attend the mandatory New Student Orientation at the San Francisco Campus. You will be notified of the date and time.
