How to Apply (Academic Year 2008-2009)

USF encourages its students and their families to consider all aid programs as possible resources for meeting educational expenses. To receive consideration for all aid programs for which they may be eligible, applicants must pay careful attention to the application process.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)
is available from high schools and financial aid offices in November/December. The on line FAFSA (recommended) is available beginning January 1st at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA must be filed by all applicants for Federal student aid, CAL Grant consideration, and USF-funded tuition grants and need-based scholarships.

The completed FAFSA may be submitted to the processor as early as January 1, 2008 for the 2008/2009 award year. To meet USF's priority deadline, new students must submit the FAFSA to the processor no later than February 1, 2008 for the 2008/2009 award year. Continuing USF students must submit the FAFSA to the processor no later than March 2, 2008.

Once the FAFSA has been submitted to the processor, applicants may receive requests from the Financial Aid Operations Office for information. The information should be provided without delay so that the process can continue.

Applicants for aid must not neglect the admission application process. Aid funds are limited and first consideration is given to those who submit their aid applications and all admission application materials by February 1, 2008 and have been admitted to a University degree or certificate program by March 10, 2008.

To remain eligible to receive financial aid, a student must demonstrate that he or she is making satisfactory academic progress at USF. Satisfactory progress is defined as achieving at least a 2.0 grade point average each semester and as progressing at a normal pace toward successful completion of a degree or credential program.

To ensure that the University of San Francisco receives the information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you must enter the USF Title IV code in response to the appropriate question on the FAFSA. The USF Title IV code is: 001325
