Enrichment Opportunities

SOPHOMORES
UCSF Med Link |  http://www.medlinksf.org/

Held at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, MedLink sessions take place one Saturday a month over six consecutive months during the school year.  MedLink is a mentoring program for high school sophomores.  The focus is on science education and personal development, by supporting one-on-one relationships between high school students and medical students.  Together they explore the path from high school to a career in health care and engage in activities such as learning to take vital signs, participating in a simulated trauma resuscitation and investigating an infectious outbreak.

JUNIORS and SENIORS
CODE NOW |  http://www.codenow.org

Programming is all around us. It is a skill that serves as a passport into every discipline, every industry and every career path you might consider.  Code Now will usher students into the exclusive 'order of programmers', by teaching them the Ruby programming language.  Instructors will be top level professionals from some of Silicon Valley's leading companies.  Instruction happens over 6 weekend sessions.  Successful completion of the training, which will include online homework, will earn each student a new laptop.   You need not be a math or science wizard, only eager to learn and grow via this challenging experience.
