Intercultural Center Staff

The staff is committed to providing space for all to explore issues regarding identity, social justice, and equality. We are also committed to the development, success, and achievement of historically underserved and underrepresented students, LGBTQ individuals and their allies.

Dawn Lee Tu, Ph.D.

Director, Cultural Centers
As an interdisciplinary scholar and student affairs professional, she brings a unique perspective to her work as a diversity affairs professional. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from the University of California at Davis where her research focused on diversity initiatives and Asian American student engagement in college. She also holds an MA in American Studies from New York University where she researched and wrote about Asian American youth and hip hop consciousness. In addition to researching diversity-related issues, she has spent the past nine years cultivating her passion for social justice through other student affairs roles that have included diversity training, community-based capacity building, crisis management and community mediation. Her experience with teaching college students, training as a critical ethnographer and Ethnic Studies scholar, and student affairs experience enables her to bridge theory and practice and cultivate collaborative projects between faculty, students and the community. She is a proud product of the San Francisco public education system (K-12).
