Each event is designed to highlight the outstanding work our students have accomplished in the areas of service, academics, and leadership, while affirming the unique challenges and experiences they share.
The End of Year Celebrations are held in May. Academic programs, cultural organizations, and the IC team unite to host the End of the Year Ceremonies each year. The Intercultural Center serves as lead for the following programs:
Asian and Pacific Islander Unity Graduation (API Unity Grad)
The Asian and Pacific Islander Unity Graduation is a special ceremony held in May to honor graduating Asian and Pacific Islander students and their families. All Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander and mixed-race API graduating undergrads and grad students are welcome to participate. The ceremony is a reflection of our community's growth as a whole and the accomplishments of those attending. The program will recognize graduating seniors in the areas of academic, leadership, and community service; honor API student organization leaders and welcome new leadership; recognize Asian Pacific American Studies Minors, and recognize first, second, and third year students of the year. API Unity Grad is organized in collaboration with Asian Pacific American Studies, Korean Student Association, Taiwanese/Chinese Student Association, Kasamahan, Hui O' Hawaii, and the Vietnamese Student Association.
Latino Recognition Ceremony (LRC)
LRC is an annual event where graduating Latino students are recognized and honored for their accomplishments in academics, service, and leadership. The program consists of a formal awards ceremony in Saint Ignatius Church followed by an informal reception. LRC Is organized in collaboration with Chican@/Latin@ Studies, CELASA, Latinas Unidas, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc., and MEChA.
Lavender Graduation (LG)
The goal of the ceremony is to promote excellence among the GLBTQ and Ally community and recognize the achievements of its diverse members. As members of the committee we are actively engaged in the addressing the growing needs of our students. Lavender Graduation is organized in collaboration with Queer Alliance and the LGBTQ Staff & Faculty Caucus.
Vizuri Kabisa (VK) Unity Celebration/Black Graduation Celebration
Vizuri Kabisa is Swahili for "excellence." Planned for and by students, VK is a recognition event that honors the academic and leadership achievements of graduating African and African American students. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the accomplishments of these wonderful students.
