As is tradition, this year, the University’s one hundred and fifty-seventh, the University began its academic year with the annual University Convocation 2012.
Date: Thursday, August 16, 2012
Time: 9:00 AM
The principal speaker was John Sexton, President of New York University. Dr. Sexton is the beneficiary of Jesuit education from high school through college and graduate studies. He is the president of one of the nation’s largest private universities and a renowned legal scholar and the recipient of numerous honorary degrees. His presentation was followed by a brief follow-up conversation with Dean of the School of Law, Jeff Brand.
President Sexton is a marvelous public speaker and gifted story teller who draws from his rich personal experience, academic background [Ph.D. in American Religions and JD] and scholarly works as wide ranging as baseball, civil procedure and the Supreme Court.
