Ana Karaman, Vice Provost
Ana joined the University of San Francisco September 2011. Ana received a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and studied advanced statistical methods at Harvard and Princeton universities. In May 2005, Dr. Karaman joined the Political Science Department at Samford University and shortly thereafter was asked to join the administration at Samford, first as Director of Institutional Research and most recently as Associate Vice President for Decision Support and Financial Strategy. In her last role, Ana coordinated the university-wide long-term financial planning process; developed the annual budget; provided impact analyses of possible changes in enrollment, tuition, fund raising and capital investments; and led financial evaluation of the university’s programs. At the University of San Francisco, Ana leads the forecasting and modeling of the budget process, oversees the Center for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, coordinates the planning process, monitors the financial performance of the University’s various office and programs, and leverages the capabilities of Business Intelligence to support informed decisions by university administration.
Linda Wong, Assistant to Vice Provost
Linda came to USF in 2000 as the Assistant to the Dean for the School of Education and joined the Office of Planning and Budget in 2002. She also serves as the administrative assistant to the Provost Office. Linda received her B.A. in Human Development with an emphasis on Child Development at Hayward State University (East Bay University).
Michael Harrington, Budget Director
Michael first came to USF in 1991 working for the Fromm Institute for Lifelong Learning, eventually becoming its Assistant Director. In 1996 he joined the Office of Planning and Budget as Financial Analyst and, after several promotions, became Budget Director in 2003. Michael received his MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the McLaren School of Business at the University of San Francisco in 2000 and taught in the MBA program as an adjunct faculty member.
Joe Henson, Assistant Budget Director
Joe joined the University of San Francisco's Office of Planning and Budget in July, 2006. As Assistant Budget Director, he provides support for the Planning Database, Self-Service Banner, and the Banner Finance Summary Tool. In addition, he projects tuition revenue, creates cyclic and ad hoc reports, and manages the office's file server and database. Previously, he worked as a Data Analyst at Starmine, a company that focuses on equity analytics, analyst performance measurement, and the streamlining of equity research. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Sharon Li, Budget Analyst
Sharon joined the University of San Francisco's Office of Planning and Budget in March, 2011. She works on position budgeting and control, reporting, and ad hoc projects. She received her MBA from Santa Clara University. Previously, she worked as a management trainee at Maersk, a Denmark based shipping and logistics company, in areas such as supply chain management, operations, and sales.
Jimmy Lau, Financial Analyst
Jimmy joined the University of San Francisco's Office of Planning and Budget in September, 2009. As a Financial Analyst, he works on data resources, budget adjustments, reporting, and ad hoc projects. Previously, he worked as a Financial Analyst at Macy’s Inc., where he was responsible for financial planning, budgeting and analysis in advertising, special services, and special events. He received a B.S. in Accounting from San Francisco State University and his MBA from USF.
