Muir Woods is one of 35 Bay Area excusions that are part of Welcome Weekends at USF.
The University of San Francisco
is kicking off the 2011-12 school year with three weekends of free excursions
to destinations all over San Francisco and the Bay Area and volunteer service
opportunities for new students.
Join other USF freshman and new
transfer students cheering on the San Francisco Giants baseball team or hiking
in Muir Woods National Monument as part of Welcome Weekends.
Then give back to the community by cleaning up Ocean Beach or tutoring
elementary school students. Students can choose from any of 35 events,
including frisbee golf, movie night, and touring the Mission District’s murals.
Organized by the Koret Health and
Recreation Center and Student Life, in partnership with other USF departments,
Welcome Weekends takes place from Aug. 26 to Sept. 11. The goal is to engage
students early in their USF experience by introducing them to the university’s
mission and exposing them to some of the most exciting parts of San Francisco.
Activities are expected to fill
up quickly so sign up now.
