USF Welcomes New Trustees

Thomas E. Malloy is founder and CEO of Tom Malloy Corporation and Trench Shoring Company. Malloy was elected to a second, nine-year term in 2008. He previously served on the board from 1996 to 2005. He was the 2008 USF Alumnus of the Year and received the 2005 Alpha Beta Gamma Award. Malloy’s son, Kevin ’85, attended USF and his granddaughter is a current undergraduate.

Jude Barry is the CEO and founder of Catapult Strategies, a social media and political consulting firm based in Silicon Valley. He is a nationally recognized ethics leader. In 1993, Barry helped to craft Santa Clara County’s first ethics ordinance, establishing campaign contribution limits and increasing transparency in county politics. He is the co-founder of Verafirma, a company that is developing electronic signatures for use in government and politics. Barry currently serves as chair of the board of advisors for the Leo T. McCarthy Center for Public Service and Common Good.  

Gregory H. Blaine JD ’91 is the CEO of California Property Services, a private real estate investment and management company in the San Francisco Bay Area. Blaine has been a San Francisco Assessment Appeals Board commissioner since 2008. He was a member of the USF law school’s Law Society Board of Governors from 2000-10. Blaine is currently a member of the School of Law's Board of Counselors. He has served as chairman of the Presidio Performing Arts Foundation since 2008.

Craig A. Conway has served as the president and CEO of TGV Software, One Touch Systems, and software provider PeopleSoft. He has been recognized as one of the top 25 managers by BusinessWeek magazine, 10 most influential people in high technology by Computer Business Review, and 50 most powerful people in networking by Network World magazine. Conway received bachelor’s degrees in math and computer science from The College at Brockport, State University of New York. His daughter is an undergraduate at USF.

The Rev. John Koeplin, S.J., is the rector of the University of San Francisco’s Jesuit Community. He has taught accounting at USF since 1998. Fr. Koeplin’s expertise is in managerial accounting, financial accounting, accounting education, and moral and ethical judgment for professionals. He came to USF from the ROLM Corporation where he was a tax accountant from 1979-81. Fr. Koeplin has received awards for his writings on accounting and ethics, including the 2001 McLaughlin Award for research in accounting ethics from the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma. At USF, Fr. Koeplin has been recognized with the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and the Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Santa Clara University and is a consultor to the California Province Provincial.

The Rev. Joseph W. LaBrie, S.J., is special assistant to the president and associate psychology professor at Loyola Marymount University. He received a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in Berkeley. Fr. LaBrie earned a master’s degree in math from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated summa cum laude with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and theology from Marquette University.

Eva Monroe ’72 balances her service to a number of San Francisco nonprofit organizations by traveling, enjoying music and art, and gardening. She is a first-generation American of Filipino descent and met her husband, Michael ’70, while attending USF. Monroe’s family connections to USF include her brother, Angelo Cortes ’62, and son, Matthew ’02.

The Rev. Peter G. Pabst, S.J., is the founding president of San Jose’s Sacred Heart Nativity Schools, which were formed for at-risk boys in 2001 and for at-risk girls in 2006. He is a member of the board of trustees at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, the board of directors for the NativityMiguel Network of Schools, and the formation committee at the Latino College Preparatory Academy in San Jose. Fr. Pabst received a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from Santa Clara University and a master’s degree in divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in Berkeley.

Tracy Porter is CEO of Premiere Solutions, a firm connecting businesses with transportation services. He assisted with the launch of the auto brokerage firm Elite Auto Network. Porter worked with the Johnson & Johnson company’s management, marketing, and sales teams for 14 years. He is a veteran of the National Football League, playing for the Detroit Lions, Baltimore Colts, and Indianapolis Colts. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University and is a graduate of The Wharton Executive Development Program.

The Rev. Edward J. Siebert, S.J., hails from the Detroit-Chicago Province. He is the founder and president of Loyola Productions, producing films and documentaries for 15 years that have garnered numerous awards. Fr. Siebert consulted for such shows as “The West Wing,” “The Sopranos,” and other major television and film productions. He is a board member and the chaplain of the nonprofit Catholics in Media Associates, which honors values-driven mainstream film and television productions.

J. Alberto Yépez ’85 is a managing director of Trident Capital, a firm that focuses on software, information security, and mobile investments. He served as chairman, president, and CEO of Thor Technologies before it was acquired by Oracle. Yépez is the co-founder, with his wife Trustee Emerita Teresa Win ’85, of the email marketing firm eNcommerce. After graduating from USF with a degree in computer science, Yépez worked as a lecturer in the university’s computer science and physics departments.
