Join the Dons
as they celebrate fall graduation in St. Ignatius Church on Dec. 14. Commencement Mass
begins at 10 a.m., with graduates receiving their diplomas at ceremonies spaced
throughout the day.
Invited to take part are 385 undergraduates, 457 graduates, and 42
doctoral students.
Winter commencement exercises will be held at St. Ignatius Church on the USF campus:

Mario
Joseph, a Haitian human rights lawyer, will give the commence address at the
College of Arts and Sciences ceremony, where he will receive an honorary doctor
in humane letters degree. Joseph is Haiti’s most prominent human rights
attorney. He has tirelessly pursued justice for victims of the François
Duvalier dictatorship, sought shelter for those made homeless by the
devastating 2010 earthquake, and advocated for increased investments in Haiti’s
water, sanitation, and health infrastructure. He received the Judith Lee
Stronach Human Rights Award in 2009 from the human rights organization the
Center for Justice and Accountability.
Jetsun
Pema, the founding president of the nonprofit Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV),
will give the commencement address at the combined commencement of the School
of Education and School of Nursing and Health Professions. She will also receive
an honorary doctor in humane letters degree. For more than 40 years, Pema has worked
to reform and improve the educational system for Tibetan refugee children. She
is the younger sister of the Dalai Lama.
Dave
DeWalt, CEO of the cyber security firm FireEye, will be the commencement
speaker at the School of Management graduation ceremony. DeWalt is the former president
and CEO of McAfee and currently serves as chairman of the board for FireEye,
Polycom, and Mandiant. In 2011, President Barack Obama appointed him to the
National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council.
