Nino Giarratano is the University of San
Francisco’s winningest head baseball coach, moving him into sixth place on the
West Coast Conference career victories list.
Giarratano surpassed celebrated head coach Dante
Benedetti with the most victories on March 2, notching his 374th win.
The Dons clinched the game in a dramatic 10-inning contest, beating the
California State University, Northridge Matadors 6-5 at the Aztec Invitational in
San Diego. Giarratano is in his 14th season with the Dons.
“It’s a great feeling and it’s an honor to be
mentioned in the same breath as Dante Benedetti,” Giarratano said. “I'm proud of the players that
have played for me and of all the people that have helped build the program
along the way."
