USF President Stephen A. Privett, S.J. announced that he’ll step aside as the university’s president when his current term ends in May.
In his 14th year at USF, Fr. Privett made clear that he remains focused on serving as the university’s leader until a successor has been named and the presidential transition is completed.

Responding to Fr. Privett’s announcement, Board of Trustees Chair Thomas E. Malloy said, “We are deeply grateful to Fr. Privett for his fearless and inspiring leadership, his passionate commitment to the Jesuit Catholic mission, his thoughtful care …and, of course, his humor. During his tenure, the university has seen unprecedented enrollment growth, a transformed physical campus, new and innovative interdisciplinary centers, national recognition, and higher visibility and engagement in the Bay Area community.
