Campus Courtship, Flash Mob Style

Andy Liu MA ’14 danced his way across USF’s Gleeson Plaza and into the hearts of his high school sweetheart and YouTube viewers worldwide. He and several dozen friends surprised his would-be fiancée with a four-minute flash mob dance choreographed to Bruno Mars’ “I think I want to marry you,” just before Liu dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring, and proposed.

“She said, ‘Yes’!” Liu shouted to the crowd. Even his parents in China have watched the video. “My mom told me she wants my father to propose to her again,” Liu laughed. “But this time with a flash mob.”

The couple married at San Francisco City Hall in September. The new bride is Lu Gao, a violin student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Both are from Beijing.
