In the Life: Documentary Stories From the Gay Experience
James C. Hormel Gay & Lesbian Center
This
collection focuses mainly of GLBT life in the San Francisco bay area.
Archival collections have descriptive finding aids. Some resources are
on loan from the GLBT Historical Society. In addition to maintaining
archives, the Hormel Center also functions as a gateway to the San
Francisco Public Library's "collections documenting lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgendered history and culture."

American Psychological Association's Healthy LGB Students Project
APA's
LGB student page is a good information source for those researching
anti-gay harassment in schools and other issues faced by gay youth.
GLSEN: The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network
Organization for students, parents, and teachers that tries to affect
positive change in schools.
International Foundation for Gender Education
Covering
all aspects of transgender culture, this site includes a transgender
web guide. IFGA also publishes the online and print magazine
Transgender Tapestry (subscription only).
National Consortium of Directors of LGBT Resources in Higher Education
This
organization works to "achieve higher education environments in which
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, faculty, staff,
administrators, and alumni have equity in every respect." Includes a
topically arranged guide of LGBT resources in higher education.
Health
Gay & Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA)
A
professional organization comprised primarily of physicians, GLMA works
to influence health care policy and educate medical care providers
about GLBT health concerns. This is a good source to find statically
data and research on GLBT healthcare. GLMA also offers a physician
referral service to connect people with GLBT providers.
Lesbian Health and Research Center
Run by UCSF, the LHRC offers programs, trainings and research on lesbian health issues

This highly regarded literary magazine features works by established and emerging GLBT talent.
Genders
Available
free online since 1998 (issue 27), Genders is published twice a year
and features articles on gender and sexuality as it relates to
"semiotic, political, literary, social, ethnic, racial, economic,
rhetorical or legal concerns."

An extensive online research library for gay, lesbian, bisexual and trangendered materials.
Politics and Law
American Civil Liberties Union: Lesbian, Gay Bisexual Transgender Project
The
LGBTQ division of the ACLU, the leading organization for civil rights
in the United States. This division lobbies, launches media campaigns,
monitors and influences law suits and support people in fighting for
civil rights for LGBTQ people and their families.
Human Rights Campaign
The
largest advocacy group in the United States for gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender equality, HRC works for equality at work, for families
and individuals at the state and national levels.
International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission
International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association
ILGA is an international group dedicated to ending discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people everywhere.
Lamda Legal

by University of Michigan-Dearborn faculty, GLBTQ bills itself as "an
encyclopedia of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer culture."
Articles are scholarly in nature and searchable by keyword. GLBTQ also
hosts several discussion boards.
Queertheory.org
Although
the name implies a strictly academic site, Queertheory is actually an
extensive, well-arranged directory. While academia is prominently
featured, the site also steers users toward information on various GLBT
topics.
