TOC Services

Below are instructions for setting up a Table of Contents (TOC) Alert Service in various databases available at Gleeson Library.

EBSCOhost EJS

Step 1: Create your "My EBSCOhost" account (if you don't already have one)

  1. Go to EBSCOhost EJS (http://www.usfca.edu/Library/databases/EBSCOhost_Electronic_Journals_Service/)
  2. Connect to this database
  3. Click on “Sign In” in top right corner of the page
  4. Click on "Create a New Account" in the right corner

Step 2: Create your TOC alert

  1. Go to EBSCOhost EJS (http://www.usfca.edu/Library/databases/EBSCOhost_Electronic_Journals_Service/)
  2. Connect to this database
  3. Sign-in using "Sign In” link in the top right corner of the page EBSCOHost screen
  4. Select the “Publications” tab/button at the top middle of the page.
  5. Type the name of the publication title in the browse publications box.
  6. When you see the correct publication name, click on the publication
    name to bring up the publications details screen.
  7. Click on “Alert/Save/Share” (towards the right side of the page) and
    select "Email Alert" or "RSS Feed." Fill out the form and click on
    "Advanced Settings" to set more preferences. EBSCO alerts can be run
    for a maximum of one year, and then you must renew the alert.

ProQuest

  1. Go to ProQuest (http://www.usfca.edu/Library/databases/ProQuest/)
  2. Connect to this database
  3. Type in the exact name of the journal in the top search box
  4. Change the drop down menu to the right of the search box from “Keywords, KW” to “Publication title”
  5. Click on the orange “Search” button
  6. On the results page, click on the “Set up Alert” link near the top of the results
  7. Complete the alert set-up form
  8. After you set-up the alert, go to your email and look for a message with the subject line “[ProQuest Alert]”
  9. Click on confirmation link in the email to activate your alert service
