Library Cards
USF
Alumni may purchase a Special Access Only card for $20. This card is
good for one year and allows access to the library, but does not allow
borrowing.
USF Alumni may purchase a Special Access / Borrowing card for $50. This card is good for one year.
Methods of payment include cash and checks only.

Library Databases
USF Alumni may access the library's databases from within the Library only. Here is more information on finding other online databases that you can access from home.
Access to the Branch Libraries
Alumni may use the branch libraries at the discretion of
the branch library staff. Because there are fewer resources in the
regions, priority is given to currently enrolled students and teaching
faculty. Please call or email in advance to find out the best times to
drop in or get help.
Access to the Library
The

Access to the Library is available to individuals affiliated with USF or seeking to use Federal Depository documents.
Affiliation is defined as a direct relationship with the USF Community:
- USF Faculty & Staff (and their families)
- Students, faculty, and staff from affiliated schools, colleges, parishes etc. See complete list of affiliation categories in the table below.
Non-Affiliated individuals can:
- Request access to Federal Depository documents.
- Request access to the Thacher Gallery.
- Purchase Special Borrower access cards at the Circulation desk.
- Request
pre-arranged authorization from a library department (Circulation,
Periodicals, Reference, Office of the Dean, or Special Collections).
Access to the Library does not guarantee use of all Library services and resources.

The Library calls your attention to the following policies regarding
the application for and use of the Special Access / Borrowing card. If
you need further assistance, please call (415) 422-2660 or ask at the
Circulation Desk.
Alumni and visitors seeking Special
Access / Borrowing privileges should apply in person at the Circulation
Desk. Registration procedures must be completed and all applicable fees
paid in full before borrowing and/or access privileges are granted.
The special borrowers card may be used to borrow only materials that
are physically located in the Gleeson Library | Geschke Center
building. The card is not for use at any other locations such as the
Law Library, Branch Libraries, or the Atrium after-hours.
Special borrowers may borrow circulating books and government documents
for thirty days with renewal privileges provided no one has placed a
"Hold" on the item.
Books may be returned in the chute at the front of the main desk or in
the book return chute located outside the main entrance. When
the library is closed, deposit materials in the book return chute
outside the main entrance.
The Library reserves the right to recall any book in circulation. A
book which has been recalled is subject to a $1.00 per day fine if it
is returned after the new due date listed on the recall notice.
A fine of $.50 per day per item is charged for overdue books.
Replacement charges for lost or damaged materials include a
non-refundable processing fee plus all overdue fines which have accrued.
Special borrowers may not borrow materials on Reserve for class assignments.
Special Access / Borrower card holders are not entitled to Interlibrary Loan privileges.
Card holders may access library databases from the computers in the
Reference Department, but cannot access the databases from outside the
library. See Computers in the Library for access information on all library computer systems.
The Special Access / Borrower card is intended for use solely by the
person whose name appears on the card. Privileges are valid through the
expiration date on the card. Special Access / Borrower cards are the
property of USF and must be returned to the Library at the time of
application for renewal. Applicable fees must be paid in full at the
time of the request. Cards are renewed at the discretion of the Library.
The Library reserves the right to revoke Access / Borrowing privileges
of individuals in any category. The Special Access / Borrower's card is
non-transferable.
