America Reads

Use Your Federal Work Study Award to support K-3 Literacy:

Help local elementary school children learn to read!

The America Reads Program may be for you...
 
Why not get involved in this National Service initiative?
  • Tutor 10 hours per week, Fall and Spring Semesters
  • Work with Kindergarten - 3rd grade children in SF area schools and community centers.
  • Tutor training will be provided
Qualifications:
  • Must have work-study
  • Must be TB tested and have a background check (including fingerprinting) to work at SFUSD schools.
  • Must also enroll in 1-unit training course (new tutors must enroll in America Reads IA, returning tutors in appropriate sections).
Pay Rate: $10.50 per hour.

New tutors must attend 2 mandatory meetings on September 4 and September 10 at 5:00 PM in Cowell 325.

Returning tutors should attend meeting on September 9 at 5:00 PM in Cowell 325.
