Curriculum

The Intensive English Program offers a serious intensive English language training program that stresses academic English and university preparation. IEP courses are taught by USF faculty in the Department of Rhetoric & Language.

Courses:

  • Integrated Skills - reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary
  • Oral Communication Skills - listening, speaking, fluency, and pronunciation in conversational and academic situations

 IEP curriculum features:

  • 25 hours of instruction per week
  • Courses offered at the intermediate and advanced levels
  • TOEFL preparation workshops and paper based TOEFL exam

Placement by English Language Ability:

On first day of the program, you will take an English Placement assessment. The assessment has four parts: listening, grammar/vocabulary, writing a mini-essay, and oral interview and will be used to determine your course assignment. A TOEFL score will not be used for placement.
