FITNESS AND WELLNESS OPTIONS
- Sign up for Departmental/Personal Training. No time to get to the gym? We have you covered. We're bringing the workout to you! Coach Suzy will come to your office and lead you in a 20-minute workout designed exclusively for you and/or your department. Whether you want to focus on strengthening, cardio, stretching, or all 3, she will make the most of your time with the trainer. Email Coach Suzy to sign you or your department up. Times available are Wednesdays and Fridays 11-1, throughout the month of February. Please provide your name, contact information and requested date and time on the email. She will confirm the details with you.
- Complete a race this February! GoUSF will reimburse you for your registration fee for races you do during the month of February 2013. You must provide proof of participation (e.g., race result print out) and receipt. Please email a scanned copy or drop them off at the HR front office, LM 339. We must receive your documents by 5pm, March 8, 2013, in order to reimburse you. Reimbursement is limited to full-time and part-time faculty and employees who log in their race minutes for the USF vs. SCU Fitness and Wellness Challenge. Check the Running in the USA website to find race events by city and date. There are 24 run/walk races listed in the Bay Area for the month of February!
- Work out at your local gym or take advantage of USF's Koret Health and Recreation Center, which has a multitude of services and exercise equipment, including 35 brand new, state-of-the-art cardiovascular machines, treadmills, ellipticals, Step Mills, Adaptive Motion Trainers, and bikes, Olympic size swimming pool, group exercise schedule, massage, and Koret sponsored events.
- Check out the Calendar of Events for main campus activities throughout the month of February on the HealthyUSF webpage.
- See other colleagues from the opposite side of campus - hand deliver your packet instead of putting it in campus mail; if you work at Lone Mountain, walk down to lower campus and have lunch there (and vice versa if you work on lower campus); take a short walk during your morning or afternoon break.
- Get up and be active! At work, take 2-minute breaks every hour to stretch and walk in place to get your blood pumping and increase your energy. At home when watching TV, get up during commercials - do some push-ups, crunches, stretches, calisthenics, squats, etc. The minutes add up!
- Attend a Weight Watchers meeting or a healthy cooking/nutrition class, weed your yard or the local community garden, take a long walk on the weekends, do yoga or pilates, throw the ball or play active games with your kids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends -- there are so many possibilities! If you have any questions about qualifying activities and the Challenge, please contact Kristina Alai by email or X6012.
EVERY MINUTE COUNTS!
Don’t forget: February is Heart Month - make every beat count, and beat the broncos!
