USF kids enjoying a game of volleyball at Koret
We’ve had a whirlwind summer and a lot of participation in a variety of events!
We kicked off the summer with a “Bring your Child to Work” day. We had 40 kids of all ages enjoy an opportunity to visit the campus, including Gleeson Library, the Nursing Clinic, and Koret as well as learning how to make pizzas in the cafeteria. Children are great teachers, and we hope you enjoy the “Healthy Living is...” calendars with artwork collected from our very talented young artist community, being distributed to faculty and staff across campus now.
Getting family and friends involved in our health goals is a great way to stay motivated. We had over 160 people representing 38 teams participate in our Family Fitness Challenge during July. It was truly a team challenge where people earned points for moving, eating fruits and veggies and participating in stress free activities.
The sun can damage our skin year round. We had 25 faculty/staff attend July’s timely lunch and learn topic on summer skin health. Download a copy of the presentation here. There was a lot of interest in expanding this into mole checks, so keep an eye out for a follow-up event.
On Thursdays, we have been diligently training for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, a 3.5 mile walk/run starting at 6:45pm. It will start and end at McCovey’s Cove. Feel free to come down and cheer on your GoUSF Team!
We have an array of wellness events planned for this year to help support your physical and emotional well-being. Even small changes can reap big rewards. Keep an eye on the HR calendar for upcoming wellness events. Other ways to stay in the loop are to subscribe to the weekly GoUSF Wellness Update email or “Like” GoUSF on Facebook.
