As a new employee, one of the first tasks you need to complete is your new hire documentation. Please have it ready to bring with you on your first day.

Important Note: I-9 form
In compliance with the rules and regulations of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, USF only employs United States citizens or other individuals who have the legal right to work in the United States. On your first day of work, or within 3 business days, all employees must complete a Department of Homeland Security Form I-9, and provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. If you have previously worked at the university (within the last three years), you do not need to submit a new I-9, unless the I-9 form you submitted is no longer valid. Please speak with a member of the HR team if you have any questions.
After you have submitted your new hire documentation, you will receive instructions about how to obtain your “One Card.” The One Card is the official campus ID card at USF. Your USF One Card identifies you as a member of the USF community. It serves as a key-card that verifies eligibility and unlocks doors for access into buildings and rooms. Another benefit of the One Card is Don Dollars. This is an optional on-campus debit account. The Don Dollars program enables you to conveniently make purchases throughout USF via your USF One Card.

USF Connect and Email
The USF Connect portal is USF’s online hub for accessing a multitude of resources, including university communications and announcements, and self-service tools. As part of the university’s pre-hire onboarding process, you will be granted access to USF Connect prior to your first day. If you do not have access, please contact ITS at (415) 422-6668.
Employment, Benefits and University Orientations
Human Resources conducts a range of orientation sessions to help you "get connected" to the community and important processes of USF. New staff receive information about which of these sessions they need to attend in their new hire offer letter (email) from Human Resources. New faculty should attend the the benefits orientation, as described below.
- Employment Orientation - for new staff
The New Staff Employment Orientation introduces new staff to important university policies, programs, and websites. We also explain the forms and processes you need to complete within the first few days and weeks of your employment.
- Benefits Orientation - for benefits-eligible faculty and staff
The Benefits Orientation provides benefits-eligible faculty and staff with an overview of all benefits options available at the university. Please note: benefit enrollment forms must be submitted to Human Resources within 30 days of your hire date. The benefits orientation has been designed to ensure you have enough information to make informed decisions about the coverage you need.
- University Welcome - for new staff
Every two months, Human Resources hosts a University Welcome to introduce new staff to the university's vision, mission, and values; history; and extended community. Upcoming University Welcome Sessions are as follows:

Faculty/staff lounge and happy hour
Why not visit the faculty/staff lounge on lower campus for lunch, or meet colleagues for happy hour on Thursdays during the academic year? It’s a relaxing and social environment, especially for faculty and staff.
Check the Payroll website or contact the Payroll office for details about the payroll calendar, time sheets, leave reports, etc. The Payroll office is located at LMN 3rd floor and the main phone number is (415) 422-5743.

If you plan on driving to campus, you must purchase a parking permit through the Office of Public Safety. Public Safety is located at UC 5th floor. Phone: (415) 422-4222
Commuting with Clipper Direct
The university subsidizes Clipper Direct purchases for benefits eligible full-time faculty and staff who do not have a university parking permit. Visit the HR's Benefits website for more information.
Visit the Office of Public Safety website for information about what to do in an emergency, or to report suspicious persons.
USF Building and grounds maintenance
Facilities Management provides a range of services including building and grounds maintenance.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), offered by CONCERN, provides confidential and professional assistance to eligible faculty and staff, dependents, and/or others living in the household. Confidential services are available for a wide range of personal matters. See the USF HR benefits website for more information.
