Endowed chairs are critical in helping USF attract and
retain world-class faculty members.
Not only do endowed chairs bring added prestige to the
university, but they are also the highest honor the university can bestow upon
its most distinguished faculty. Thanks to the generosity of donors, these
positions allow USF to recognize a faculty member’s research, teaching, and
service to the community.
Endowed chairs establish permanent investments and provide
the university with long-term financial stability—income from endowed gifts pay
the faculty member’s salary and associated costs. Yet the benefits of endowed
chairs are even broader.
For students, endowed chairs offer the chance to study under
prominent experts. For donors, endowing a chair provides a permanent link to a
USF faculty member and to ongoing academic excellence.
Donors can establish chairs in their own names or in the
names of others they would like to honor. Either way, endowed chairs act as
living memorials, signifying a permanent commitment to quality education.
