John Koeplin, S.J.
Fr. John Koeplin, S.J. has been a professor at the University of
San Francisco since 1998, coming to us from ROLM Corporation as a
tax accountant (1979-81) and Hood and Strong, Certified Public
Accountants (San Jose, 1977-79). As a Jesuit Scholastic, John also
taught accounting and worked in the Dean's office from
1985 to 1987. Fr. Koeplin expertise is in managerial accounting,
financial accounting, accounting education, and moral and ethical
judgment for professionals. He has a number of publications in
journals related to these topics.
John has received awards for his written work about accounting and
ethics, including the McLaughlin Prize for Research in Accounting
Ethics given by the Michael F. Price College of Business School of
Accounting at the University of Oklahoma in 2001. The USF School of
Business and Management has also honored John's work. He
was given the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award as well as
the Distinguished Service Award.
Currently John is serving as Board of Trustee member for Santa
Clara University and Jesuit High School in Sacramento. He also is
serving as a consultor to the Provincial of the Society of Jesus.
John grew up in San Jose and is the 7th of 10 children.
